Welcome to Nature Arts Press.  Our last release, from April 2012,  Nature's Paradise ó Costa Rica is unfortunately SOLD OUT.  The following information is provided for reference.

The book  is a 10 x 10 inch full color, 200 page coffee-table photo book. It shows captivating examples of wildlife and scenes a traveler might have seen or hope to see in Costa Rica and in some cases other Central American countries. It can be a souvenir, a resource for travel, a wildlife reference, or simply a beautiful coffee table conversation piece. It captures the Costa Ricaís great biodiversity through stunning photographs from many different areas

The book is the work of two photographers, Douglas Goodell of Ridgewood New Jersey, and Marco Saborio of Costa Rica, who was able to add a unique local perspective. The book includes many birds because they are of such great interest and so often sought after, but it also shows butterflies, reptiles, mammals, and scenes of great beauty. It is not a guide book nor is it heavy on biology; its emphasis is on beautiful photography with locations and interesting information provided about each subject.

Conservationist Archie Carr III of the Wildlife Conservation Society had this to say about the book in its foreword: "It must be in the artistry. How else do you explain the freshness and luminosity of this, another book of photographic images of the wildlife and landscapes of Costa Rica? Iím convinced the book works because of the skill and soul of the two authors. They are artists, and for me, this book is like Costa Rica all over again."

The book was originally published in 2012 by Brio Books of Minneapolis, MN; it was printed and bound by Walsworth Book Group of Marceline, MO. In September 2012 Brio Books went bankrupt and the book was transferred to Nature Arts Press with ISBN 978-0-9838132-0-0.  It was then distributed by AtlasBooks, a division of BookMasters, Inc, in Ashland, Ohio.  Some copies, both new and used, are now being sold (internet searches) at extraordinary prices.  Reviews, and several page previews can be found  by clicking here.  More images and information can also be found on the Facebook page: DougGoodellPhotos.

At this point there are no plans for the book to be reprinted. While authors and publishers like to see books sell well, it is also sad to see the end of a project that was a labor of love. But books of this type are extremely expensive to produce and their market is more limited than it use to be. We thank all the parties that have helped at all stages of the book's preparation and distribution. For further information about the book or for speaking presentations (which are still active) please contact  info@natureartspress.com.
